The White House has announced President Barack Obama will speak Jan 21 in Boise.
The President will deliver his State of the Union address Tuesday, then be in Boise Wednesday. He’s expected to discuss themes of his address on the Boise State University campus.
“We are honored and excited to host President Obama here at Boise State,” Boise State President Bob Kustra said. “We know he will be impressed with our students and faculty and the innovative work and world-class research they are doing.”
Few details have been released by the White House or by the university. A BSU release says the White House will be handling “all details and inquiries” about the visit.
Late Friday afternoon, the White House released the following statement:
“Next week, the President will hit the road to discuss the themes he’ll lay out in his State of the Union address on Tuesday. On Wednesday, January 21, the President will travel to Boise State University in Boise, Idaho to deliver remarks. On Thursday, January 22, the President will travel to the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas to deliver remarks. Further details on the President’s travel next week will be available in the coming days.” - White House spokesman Keith Maley
The visit will be Obama’s second to Boise State. During his 2008 campaign, he spoke to more than 14,000 people at Taco Bell Arena.
