ESPN is reporting Boise State head coach Chris Petersen will accept the same position at the University of Washington today.

Reporter Joe Schad cites an unnamed source.  Nothing has been made official by either school.

On Twitter, Schad added:

Chris Petersen is ready for a new challenge and views the professional and family timing and UW destination as the perfect next step. - Joe Schad, ESPN

Several outlets reported Thursday night that Washington's athletic director flew to Boise to meet with Petersen.

Petersen is in his eighth year as Boise State's head coach.

"Petersen has been connected to various openings over the last few years including UCLA and USC but felt this was the best match. Petersen is a California native who has also worked in Idaho and Oregon and recruited all those states as well as Washington." - ESPN report

We'll have more details as this story develops.
