Sun Valley hockey player Hilary Knight is headed to Sochi, Russia to compete in her second Olympic games. After a heartbreaking defeat in 2010's gold medal game, Knight says she and the rest of the U.S. Women's Hockey Team are ready for a big win.

HILARY KNIGHT

Hometown: Sun Valley, Idaho

Sport: Ice hockey

Position: Forward

Birthday: July 12, 1989

Most Recent Team: Boston Blades (CWHL)

Stats: Knight won a silver medal during the 2010 Winter Olympics with the U.S. Women's Ice Hockey team; four-time world champion; three-time All American in the sport of women's hockey.

Knight on the 2014 Sochi Games: “After suffering the tough defeat and heartbreak in the gold medal game in 2010, we all made this silent pact saying 'okay, in the next four years it’s business and we’re going to go back and win a gold medal in Russia,'” Knight says.

What gives her the competitive edge?: It's all about her team and training smart. She describes the team as split between veteran players, like herself, and first-time Olympians. Knight says the team is stronger and faster than the 2010 team.

Knight has lived all over the U.S., but she’s called Sun Valley, Idaho home for the past 15 years. She’s currently training in Boston before leaving for Germany and then on to Sochi, Russia in February.
