Fox Won't Broadcast Stuntman's Snake River Canyon Jump

Big Ed Beckley's Facebook page

The Times-News reports that the Fox television network won't broadcast Texas stuntman "Big" Ed Beckley's planned Snake River Canyon motorcycle jump.

On his Facebook page, Beckley writes the network didn't have the money to broadcast the event.

"We received the final word the executes at FOX TV have backed away from the Snake River Canyon Jump. It was not in their new budget for us to make the jump. We will not sacrifice safety, our integrity, and our just reward for attempting a real motorcycle jump over the Canyon. We are now seeking other media partners and we are undaunted by this development because it is in God's hands. We have followed his lead from the start and whatever he has in store for us, whatever it may be we are along for the ride." - Beckley

The Times-News reports Beckley still plans to make the jump, last attempted by Evel Knievel in 1974. Knievel's jump failed.

"Beckley plans to jump the canyon on a rocket-powered motorcycle, and Hollywood stuntman Eddie Braun plans to traverse it on a steam-powered rocket. They had originally planned to jump it in early September, and Fox agreed in May to broadcast both jumps. However, news broke about a month about that it would likely get pushed back to late September or October due to TV scheduling issues." - Times-News
