Boise Beardsmen Get Bushy And Boisterous For A Cause

The inaugural Boise Beardsmen Beard and Mustache Championships packed the house Saturday night at the Red Room. Men sporting bushy beards and twisted mustaches worked the rowdy crowd. They were judged in several categories including "Full Beard" and "Freestyle Beard." Female Beardsmen competed in the "Whiskerina" section.

Andy Farrer founded the group in 2011. He says he started it as a fun side project. Farrer is a graphic designer and graduate of Boise State. He designed a website and business cards for the group, and has seen interest grow over the past year.

Farrer was pleased with the full crowd and the chance to support a local nonprofit. All proceeds from the competition went to the Idaho Suicide Prevention Hotline
