Boise's Youth Lagoon Snags Complimentary Reviews on NPR's All Songs Considered

Facebook

Boise-based musician Trevor Powers, better known in the music world by the stage name Youth Lagoon, is gearing up to release his third album, “Savage Hills Ballroom.” The new album is said to address breaking down barriers and acknowledging personal flaws.

It was a song from this yet-to-be-released album that caught the attention of Robin Hilton of NPR’s All Songs Considered.  The inspiration behind the single “Highway Patrol Stun Gun” came in part from increasing reports of police brutality. Hilton referred to Youth Lagoon’s new material as a “creative leap,” calling it the band’s most purposeful, composed work yet. Powers’ new work has both direction and gusto, and Hilton agrees by saying it is “intentionally and impeccably curated from start to finish."

You can listen to the reviewed single here. “Savage Hills Ballroom,” recorded in Bristol, England, is due out September 25 from Fat Possum Records.
