Mountain Rides Transportation Authority provides bus service in Sun Valley, Ketchum, Hailey, Bellevue and Carey – and vanpool service to more rural communities like Fairfield, Jerome and Gooding.
According to the Idaho Mountain Express, the agency is dealing with higher fuel costs as prices at the pump have risen in recent months. But ridership is holding steady at above 300,000 people in the first half of the year.
Mountain Rides earned a roughly $500,000 federal grant to build a new transit hub in downtown Ketchum. But the planned center has gone through several location changes in recent years and the timeline for building it has been set back several times.
The organization told the paper the planning process is back to “square one” and will need to get an extension on the grant.
