Most high schools in the state are celebrating graduates with some form of a physically distanced ceremony.
Boise High School hosted its event last week.
Graduates and family members drove up in cars and waited until the senior’s name was called. Then, graduates hopped out, grabbed their diploma, and turned their tassels. They took a quick senior photo with family members outside the school and returned to their cars.
The school also posted videos of speeches from fellow students and Principal Robb Thompson on its YouTube channel.
“So class of 2020, go out into the world," said Thompson. "Be strong, be smart, and be brave."
The Boise School District is sending out surveys to parents about possible ceremonies in late July. Other schools are also exploring in-person commencements sometime this year.
