Boise, ID – The Better Boise Coalition has a list of places the city could build a new stadium. The group has been trying to drum up public support for a new minor league baseball facility in Boise. Last night the coalition released the results of a study it commissioned on potential locations. Coalition co-founder Marc Johnson says three locations top the list.
Marc Johnson “Probably commonly known in the community as the old Bob Rice Ford site, the old Round Tree Chevrolet site, and then there’s also a very attractive site at 27th street and Fairview which is currently just a vacant lot adjacent to some land that the city currently owns.”
Defunct car dealerships make sense because locations need to be at least seven acres. Room for development around the stadium is also essential because the Better Boise Coalition wants to convince residents that building a new stadium would generate economic development. Initial estimates of the project start at 20 million dollars and some of that money could come from taxpayers. The coalition includes the manager of the Boise Hawks Baseball team and the head of Boise’s Chamber of Commerce. The stadium the coalition envisions could also be used for minor league soccer if Boise were to attract a team.
