Meridian Police Standoff Ends In Apparent Suicide

Facebook

A police standoff in Meridian Monday ended with the apparent suicide of the suspect. Meridian police came to arrest a man on felony drug charges Monday morning. Police say he pointed a shotgun at them then hid in his garage. Officers began negotiating with the suspect at noon. At about 3:40 he apparently turned a gun on himself. The man has not been identified, he's only been described as a 33 year old white male.

Nearby Chief Joseph Elementary has been on a safety lockdown most of the day.  Afternoon Kindergarten was canceled and morning kindergartners were kept inside the school all day. Parents and busses were not allowed to pick children up at the school. After the incident, police walked students out of the school to a corner away from the crime scene.
