Idaho native and Army Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl was caught up in a raid on a pot farm in California this week.
The Anderson Valley Advertiser reports Bergdahl was on the scene this week when the Mendocino County drug task force raided a property in Redwood Valley.

The paper reports the local Sheriff, Tom Allman, said Bergdahl was not involved in the pot growing operation. Bergdahl had been on the property for almost a week.

In March, Bergdahl was charged with desertion and with misbehavior before the enemy for allegedly abandoning his post in Afghanistan in 2009. He was held captive by the Taliban for five years before being freed in a controversial prisoner exchange last year.
According to the report, Bergdahl showed the sheriff his military identification and was not arrested. The Pentagon asked the Sheriff’s Department to take Bergdahl to Santa Rosa. From there, an Army Major escorted Bergdahl back to his duty station.
Bergdahl has been awaiting his preliminary hearing for the charges of desertion and misbehavior before the enemy. It will be held Sept. 17 at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston in Texas.
