It may soon be illegal to use e-cigarettes or vaping devices in many public places in Boise.
In 2011 the city adopted a public place smoking ban. Now, city council members are moving ahead on plans to add e-cigs and vaping to the list. That would include their use in bars, private clubs, public transportation areas and at the Grove Plaza.
The Idaho Press reports the ban would also cover public parks and the Boise Greenbelt, with some exceptions in Ann Morrison and Julia Davis parks, as well as the Warm Springs golf course. The ban would extend to 8th Street downtown between Bannock and Main streets.
Tuesday evening the city council voted unanimously in favor of restricting the devices. Unlike strong opposition to the original 2011 smoking ordinance, a small group testified in support of the extended ban.
