Father W. Thomas Faucher is facing charges of several counts of sexual exploitation of a child and drug possession.

Retired Boise Catholic priest W. Thomas Faucher made his first in-person appearance at the Ada County Courthouse this morning.

The 72-year-old priest was brought into the court in a wheelchair and appeared briefly alongside his defense attorney Mark Manweiler.

Faucher has been charged with several counts of sexual exploitation of a child and drug possession.

The Boise Archdiocese released a statement yesterday disclosing a new allegation of sexual abuse four decades ago, according to the Idaho Statesman. Last Tuesday, he was released after posting $250,000 bond.

He has not yet entered a plea. Faucher is due again in court March 13.

The Catholic priest served at St. Mary’s Parish in Boise, as well as churches in Pocatello, Emmett, American Falls and McCall. Faucher grew up in Boise, and was ordained in 1971.
