An investigation into an April fire at a Sun Valley ski lodge has come back inconclusive.
The Warm Springs Lodge – part of the Sun Valley Resort – caught fire on Wednesday, April 18. The blaze was especially hard to put out as flames burned in a space between the roof and the ceiling meant to prevent ice dams.
Kelli Lusk, a representative with the resort, says the fire started on an exterior wall. She says the investigation has wrapped up.
A range of agencies helped with the inquiry. The Idaho State Fire Marshal's office, Ketchum Fire Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms were all involved. While Lusk says the ignition point of the fire was found, the cause of the blaze remains undetermined.
“There were parts of the building that were badly damaged, but it is reparable—so, making something positive out of something that, at the time, was very tragic,” Lusk says.
The resort had just recently been shuttered following the close of the season when the fire broke out and was unoccupied. No injuries in connection with the blaze were reported.
Lusk says it’s unclear when the lodge at the base of Bald Mountain will be fully repaired and reopen.
