Aaron Neville: The Roots of Soul

Aaron Neville.

Aaron Neville in Studio on World Cafe - 10/27/2006

It's hard to define Aaron Neville's music — he's been nominated for Grammys in country, R&B, pop and gospel — but it's hard to argue with his success. The third of the four brothers in the New Orleans musical powerhouse Neville Brothers, Aaron has been the most successful Neville when it comes to transitioning to a solo career.

Neville returns to his soulful roots with the new Bring It On Home... The Best of the Soul Classics. Taking on the songs that inspired him when he was young, Neville covers the music of Otis Redding, Marvin Gaye and Sam Cooke, in the process distilling them to their soulful core. This segment originally aired on Oct. 27, 2006.
