Update: A Woman And Three Children Dead After Crash Into Lucky Peak Reservoir

Update, 4:06 p.m.: The Ada County Sheriff's Office says the SUV and the bodies of a woman and three kids have been brought to the shore. The driver was a 40-year-old woman and in the car were three children: a girl age 12, a boy age 10 and a girl age six.

Witnesses said it appeared to have been a deliberate act, though that part of the incident is still under investigation. Boise Fire is working on recovering while Ada County Sheriff's Office is investigating the crash.

Update, 11:00 a.m.: The Ada County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed the deaths of four people in the Thursday morning crash into Lucky Peak Reservoir. A sheriff’s office official has also clarified that the crash occurred at a cliff just north of the Highway 21 bridge, not off the bridge itself as officials had initially reported. The Army Corps of Engineers estimates the drop from the cliff to the water is between 50 and 70 feet.

Sheriff’s Office spokesman Patrick Orr says three bodies have been recovered from the SUV and that because of the vehicle’s position underwater, it’ll be brought to the surface before the driver’s body can be recovered. The three bodies already removed are now in the possession of the Ada County Coroner.

Orr says deputies are on the scene attempting to reconstruct the crash.

Update, 10:27 a.m.: The Ada County Sheriff's Office now says four people may have died in Thursday morning's crash into Lucky Peak Reservoir. Via its Twitter feed, sheriff's officials say three bodies have been recovered and that the driver remains in the vehicle. The car is submerged in about 40 feet of water and crews plan to use balloons to float it to the surface. Witnesses say it entered the water around 7 a.m.

Original post: The Idaho Statesman is reporting three people died early Thursday in a crash from High Bridge into Lucky Peak Reservoir. Crews responded after getting a call around 7 a.m. that a vehicle had driven off the bridge and into the water. The Ada County Sheriff's Office said on Twitterthat debris could be seen in the water where the vehicle entered the lake.

The Statesman says Boise Fire Department officials have confirmed the deaths, which include at least one child.
