Southwest Idaho authorities say a young girl waiting with her family for fireworks to start at a nearby festival was shot in the shoulder by a stray bullet when two men opened fire on each other in a parking lot.
Nampa Police Capt. Curt Shankel says the girl between 10 to 12 years old was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries after being shot at about 10 p.m. Wednesday in Nampa near the Ford Idaho Center.
Shankel says 21-year-old Ezri Garcia was taken into custody and police are seeking a Hispanic man described as 5 feet, 8 inches tall and wearing a dark shirt and driving a dark vehicle.
Shankel says the two men got into a verbal altercation that escalated.
He says multiple shots were fired and it's fortunate no other injuries occurred as hundreds had gathered for the fireworks.
