Boise Catholic Priest Charged For Child Porn, Drug Possession Back In Custody

Idaho Statesman

A retired Boise Catholic Priest facing child porn and drug charges is back in custody. Seventy-two-year-old Thomas Faucher has been charged with seven extra counts of possession of child pornography, one count of child porn distribution and an additional count of drug possession.

At a Tuesday morning hearing a judge increased Faucher’s bail to $1 million. The Idaho Statesman reports Ada County investigators found more than 2,000 images and videos of child pornography in Faucher’s possession. Some of the material depicted brutal rape and torture of children, according to prosecutors.

Despite arguments from Faucher’s attorney that the priest was not a flight risk, Judge James Cawthon said the new evidence from prosecutors constituted a threat to the public if Faucher remained out of custody.

His next court appearance is scheduled for March 29.
