Washington State University announced Monday that our Richland Correspondent Anna King is WSU Woman of the Year for 2016.
This special award recognizes women who have distinguished themselves in public service. The WSU Presidential Commission on the Status of Women considered nominees who have contributed to the personal growth and success of others, and whose achievements have built community through service.
WSU recognizes women affiliated and unaffiliated with the university in its annual Women of Distinction commendations. Anna is an alumna and a staff member of WSU.
Anna’s nomination was supported by listeners, reporters, hosts and managers throughout the public radio system. Colleagues and students Anna has mentored also supported her nomination with testimony of the difference she has made in their lives and careers.
Anna has covered agriculture, rural issues and the Hanford nuclear reservation for our listeners since 2007. She studied journalism at WSU’s Edward R. Murrow College of Communication and studied language and culture in Siena, Italy.
WSU will honor Anna at a public event on March 22, 2016.
