Idaho Democrats Host Debate Watch Party

Lindsey Johnson
Crowds gather at Idaho Democratic Party's last debate watch event.

The second round of 2020 Presidential Democratic debates starts Tuesday, and the Idaho Democratic Party will be hosting watch parties both Tuesday and Wednesday.

The idea of a debate suggests a sort of opposition, but the watch parties hosted by the Idaho Democratic Party are all about unity.

“We host them just as a place for people to come together, really, and just be with like-minded people,” says Shelby Scott, the acting Executive Director for the Idaho Democratic Party.

She says this year’s round up of candidates is particularly unique because of how many people have decided to run. But Scott sees this as a good thing for the party.

“With 20 candidates, voters have a lot more time to decide, and a lot more opportunities to decide who they’re going to vote for, which candidates represent their interests.”

Both watch parties will be held at Powderhaus Brewing in Garden City, beginning at 6 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday nights.
