Every year, Boise State University surveys the state to learn how folks feel about key issues. From growth to taxes, education to salmon recovery, the wide ranging topics help tell a story about Idahoans’ priorities and concerns.
The new survey came out Monday. Author Jeffrey Lyons of the University’s School of Public Service joined Idaho Matters to interpret the results.

The survey found that the most important issue to Idahoans was growth. However, Lyons notes that growth is a concern concentrated in the Treasure Valley. The biggest concern to the rest of the state is education, but the high population of the Treasure Valley skew the results.
Lyons and his colleagues are presenting these findings to Idaho lawmakers today.
“Our goal with this is to be a resource to decision-makers in Idaho,” he said. In fact, while writing the survey, Lyons and his colleagues reach out to folks in the legislature to find out what survey questions might produce helpful data to them.
