Summers in Boise mean scorching temperatures, late nights spent outdoors, ice cream potatoes, and —perhaps most importantly — floating the river. The Boise River opened for floating this Tuesday, just in time for the Fourth of July weekend.
The excitment of river opening was obvious as floaters took to the water, declaring, “Ann Morrison Park or bust ... yeehaw!”
As they hit the water bravely opening day for the two-hour float, rafters and tubers pushed through the chillier temperatures.
"It's so cold, but I'm okay with it," one floater says.
While it’s easy to get swept up in the excitement, it’s important to keep in mind personal safety on the river. This means wearing life jackets, not drinking alcohol on the river and keeping an eye out for obstacles on the water.
Tube and raft rentals at Barber Park open at noon Monday-Friday and 10 a.m. on weekends and holidays. A shuttle back to Barber Park departs from Ann Morrison Park every hour staring at 1p.m. on weekdays and noon on the weekends.
