The news team at Boise State Public Radio took home three awards in the annual contest by national Public Radio News Directors Incorporated (PRNDI).
Entries from Boise State Public Radio News were judged alongside other mid-sized newsrooms with four to seven full-time reporters.
"We're happy about this national honor," said Tom Michael, general manager of Boise State Public Radio. "These PRNDI awards showcase the skills of our full-time staff, contributors and students. You can always count on a deep 'sense of place' from our reporting in Idaho."
Reporter Samantha Wright won second place in the interview category for her March 2018 interview with three-term state Representative Hy Kloc on stepping back from public service after his cancer diagnosis.
Contributing reporter Olivia Weitz and digital content coordinator Lacey Daley were awarded first place in best multi-media presentation for their work on Expressive Idaho, a monthly series steeped in both sound and photos that spotlights Idaho folk artists and their crafts.
And Boise State Public Radio's programming department took second place in the long documentary category for the hour-long special, I Used To Listen To KBSU: An Origin Story. Assistant program director Erik Jones led the project, with contributions from Andrew Fisher and Alex Ravella.

Moving forward, PRNDI will now be known as the Public Media Journalists Association (PMJA), a decision voted on by board members to better reflect the changing faces of journalism and newsrooms.
