Deseret News CEO Named New BYU-Idaho President
Deseret News CEO Clark Gilbert has been named the new president of Brigham Young University-Idaho.
The selection of Gilbert was announced Tuesday during a devotional at BYU-Idaho's campus in Rexburg, Idaho. Gilbert becomes the 16th president of the Mormon-owned school, and will take over for Kim B. Clark in April.
Gilbert lead the Deseret News through a major transformation in 2010, when the company cut nearly half of its staff and consolidated operations with affiliated television and radio operations. He also spearheaded the newspaper's decision to focus on faith and family news.
This won't be Gilbert's first stop at BYU-Idaho. He was previously the associate academic vice president of academic development.
Gilbert has a doctorate in business administration from Harvard and a master's degree from Stanford University.
