The Idaho Board of Education is extending the search to find a new president to lead Boise State University.
Perched above the school’s famed blue football field, the Idaho Board of Education made the announcement they would continue searching for Bob Kustra’s replacement.
The push to get outside help to find additional candidates came with little fanfare. The board formally introduced a proposal to engage an outside firm to help with the search. It was seconded and passed on a voice vote. Following the vote, the meeting was adjourned.
The announcement the search would keep going came a day after board members met with three finalists. The candidates were James Lentini from Oakland University in Michigan, Kevin Reynolds from Oregon’s Portland State University and Daniel Weeks of Canada’s University of Northern British Columbia.
In a statement, Board of Education President Dr. Linda Clark says the decision to continue the search doesn’t reflect on the finalists. She writes all three are accomplished and qualified.
As the search continues, the board plans to appoint an interim president for Boise State. Last fall, Kustra said he’d be stepping down after 15 years at the helm of the university.
