Guard Soldier From Star Injured In Afghanistan

Idaho National Guard

An Idaho Army National Guard soldier was shot this week in Afghanistan.  Sergeant Albert Vieth of Star was hit by enemy fire while flying in a Black Hawk helicopter.

Vieth was hit twice in the arm.  He was treated while on the helicopter, then sent to a hospital in Germany.  He was later sent to Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington for further treatment.

Vieth is part of 1-168 General Support Aviation Battalion of the Idaho Army National Guard.  The unit trained in Fort Hood, Texas in April and was sent to Afghanistan in May.

As Senior Producer of our live daily talk show Idaho Matters, I’m able to indulge my love of storytelling and share all kinds of information (I was probably a Town Crier in a past life). My career has allowed me to learn something new everyday and to share that knowledge with all my friends on the radio.

You make stories like this possible.
