2014 Overall Excellence Contest Entry

Boise State Public Radio shined in 2014.  Coverage included multiple series that produced in-depth examinations of how Idaho's very conservative political culture was shaped, and how a fragmented mental health system hurts those living with a mental illness.

In May and October, Boise State Public Radio was a market leader in its coverage of Idaho's evolving gay marriage debate. Dozens of newscasts each week kept listeners apprised of the news of the day.

In 2014, the station's web traffic increased by 85 percent. More and more consumers learned the same responsible, thoughtful reporting they hear on the radio can also be accessed online.
