Update: Fire At India Fashion & Grocery

Boise Fire
An electrical fire occured the evening of Sunday, March 24 that wiped out the business.

If you’re a long-time listener of the You Know The Place podcast, you may remember our season one episode at India Fashion & Grocery. It remains one of our favorite explorations and, even after two seasons, our most-downloaded episode. A few days ago, an accidental electrical fire swept through the store and now the business is (in the words of the fire department) a total loss. We're devastated for Hardeep and Amar, the owner-operators of the business, and their boys. They are wonderfully-generous people who wouldn't take our money after giving us henna tattoos, who work so incredibly hard for their family, and who are such an integral part of our community. We’ve put together a special, short episode that gives further details on the situation and tells you how you can help.

By day, I manage all things digital at Boise State Public Radio. I also co-host and produce the podcast You Know The Place. By night, I'm probably counting pollinators in my garden, getting a work out done in the garage gym, or adding to my winning tally of Yahtzee games against my wife.
I started working with Boise State Public Radio in 2018, first as a freelance podcaster of You Know The Place, and later as a contract producer for Reader’s Corner. The former ran for six award-winning seasons, visiting funeral homes, ostrich farms and nude retreats for the story. The latter is now in its 22nd year of interviewing NYT-bestselling, Pulitzer and Nobel Prize winning authors.
