Lawsuit Challenges Idaho School Districts That Charge Fees For All-Day Kindergarten

A new class action lawsuit was filed last week challenging the way some Idaho school districts charge parents fees for sending their children to all-day kindergarten. Currently, the state only provides funding for half-day kindergarten. Some school districts including West Ada and Boise offer all-day, but charge parents fees to defray the cost.

 

We talk with Idaho Falls attorney Jason Wood, one of the plaintiffs in the case. He says the fees violate Idaho's constitution and discriminate against students in poverty.
