Idaho Artist Local Looks To Community For Latest Project

Hallie Maxwell is a sculptor and mixed media artist from Meridian. Her art examines the human condition of love and suffering.

One of her passions is Japanse American art, and she uses that style to explore her own heritage. In her latest art installation in collaboration with Surel's Place in Garden City, she asks the community to participate in her work. Maxwell spoke with Idaho Matters about the installation, which will be up through mid-March.

Gemma is the host of Idaho Matters, Boise State Public Radio's daily show which broadcasts live Monday-Friday at noon. She is an award-winning journalist and has spent the majority of her broadcasting career in Idaho. Gemma was a television news anchor and reporter in Boise for close to 15 years. She came to Boise in 1999 to start Fox 12.
