Boise State Public Radio At 2018 Treefort Music Fest!

OMG, #treefort2018 is finally here!

Treefort Music Fest will take over downtown Boise March 21-25, and Boise State Public Radio has partnered with the festival to bring you even more cool things to do this year.

All of these events are free and open to the public (you do NOT need a Treefort ticket to attend any of these events). Check out the full rundown of events below, and make sure to keep tabs on our festival news coverage. Can't wait to see you there!

MUSICIAN MADELINE KENNEY @ RECORD EXCHANGE: Wednesday, March 21, 5:30 p.m. at the iconic Boise record store (1105 W Idaho St, Boise, ID 83702). Boise State Public Radio and The Record Exchange are helping to kick off Treefort Music Fest with a special in-store performance featuring Madeline Kenney (check out the video to her single "Always"). The Bay Area musician’s latest album is both complex and emotional. As NPR Music put it, “This may still be the beginning of Madeline Kenney's career, but it's clear she's poised to use that time spent exploring other avenues to inform her emerging musical voice." NPR HOST LAUREN OBER AT STORYFORT: Thursday, March 22, 11 a.m. at The Owyhee (1109 W Main St, Boise, ID 83702). Podcasting is super hot right now. Everyone from your favorite celebrity to your grandma has one. But making something that is authentic, engaging, and that people will listen to isn't easy. Lauren Ober has listened to thousands of podcast episodes as part of her job as host of NPR's The Big Listen. She'll not only give you tips on how to mine your life for podcast gems, but also drop some inside scoops on what the podcast industry is missing and looking for. Plus, she'll give you 50 free podcast ideas you could make yourself (producer not included).Share the Facebook event here.

PODCASTER HAPPY HOUR @ THE MODE LOUNGE: Thursday, March 22, 5-7 p.m. The Mode Lounge in downtown Boise (800 W Idaho St, Boise, ID 83702). Are you podcast obsessed? Boise State Public Radio and Storyfort are co-hosting a special mixer for podcast fans and creators! Whether you're a podcast pro or an amateur audiophile, we would love to see you. Grab a cocktail from the mixologists at The Mode and join NPR host Lauren Ober to talk about all-things-pod. This 21+ event is free and open to the public. STORYFORT PANEL ON ART, IDENTITY & VOICE: Friday, March 23, 1:30 p.m. at The Owyhee (1109 W Main St, Boise, ID 83702). Frankie Barnhill from Boise State Public Radio News will facilitate a conversation with Colombian-born interdisciplinary artist Lido Pimienta, writer and Pulitzer Prize Nominee Micki McElya and musician Sean Desiree of Bell's Roar.

SNEAK PEAK OF BOISE STATE PUBLIC RADIO'S NEWEST PODCAST: Saturday, March 24, 6:30-7:30 p.m. at The Owyhee (1109 W Main St, Boise, ID 83702). How do you go about creating an interview-based podcast when you’re not a journalist? Where do you find compelling narrative? And which of you is willing to strip down to their skivvies for the sake of the segment?
