Get your headphones ready, Treeforters.
The first bunch of bands set to play Boise's sixth-annual Treefort Music Fest is here, and features a mix of well-established and emerging bands.
The five-day festival (which runs March 22-26 at venues across downtown Boise) will bring acts from a variety of genres, including Canadian multi-instrumentalist Mac DeMarco, synthpopfaves STRFKR, underground hip-hop artist Open Mike Eagle, and Boise folk musician Eilen Jewell. There's some throwback bands in the mix too, including 80s/90s punk band The Bouncing Souls and longtime singer-songwriter Jonathan Richman (founder of The Modern Lovers).
Check out the list of bands (so far) here.
But the festival is more than just music, as the multiple mini-forts seem to grow every year. Hackfort -- which is billed as a "digital humanities conference" -- has booked some big names in tech, including speakers from Pandora, virtual reality leader Oculus, and Sony PlayStation. Storyfort has expanded to include a pre-festival bookclub open to anyone who loves to read, while Filmfort is still accepting admission for cinephiles.
The first announcement signals a $20 dollar increase in five-day ticket prices to $165. Tickets will jump to $185 March 1st.
Headliner Mac DeMarco plays a live set for KEXP in Seattle.
