Treefort Music Fest has released their third and final list of headliners set to play this year’s March extravaganza.
Internationally-known feminist punk rockers Pussy Riot are the headline news on this announcement. The infamous Russian collective first began staging guerrilla performances in Moscow in opposition to President Vladimir Putin and the Russian Orthodox Church in 2011.
A year later, three of the group’s members were arrested and convicted of hooliganism motivated by religious hatred. They were released in 2013 after international human rights groups took up their cause.
More recently, they’ve been commenting on American politics. In October 2016, they released the track “Make America Great Again,” predicting the election of President Donald Trump while lampooning his brand of nationalist politics.

Other artists on the list round out another eclectic selection of musicians to play Treefort this year. The festival -- which puts an emphasis on musical discovery -- will bring more than 400 bands to venues around Boise.
