On The Wednesday, February 20, 2019 Edition Of Idaho Matters

  • We look at the 2019/20 education budget with Idaho Education News.
  • Idaho snowpack levels and the water supply.
  • Idaho legislator introduces bill to protect worker pay.
  • A troop of young women break scouting ground.

- An education budget was approved by the Idaho legislature on Monday. It calls for a 6.1% increase over last year — just short of state school superintendent Sherri Ybarra's request. We'll talk with Kevin Richert of Idaho Education News about the budget and the state's new funding formula for schools.

- The Gem State is seeing some staggering snowfall this season. Idaho Matters checks in with NRCS water supply specialist Ron Abramovich about what this snowpack means for the state's water supply.

- If an Idahoan finds they have been underpaid by their employer, they have a six month window within which to file a complaint. State representative Mat Erpelding would like to extend that window to a year. Idaho Matters talks with Erpelding about this piece of worker protection legislation and other bills on the statehouse floor.

- BSA Troop 1-G in Meridian is one of Idaho's first all-woman Boy Scout troops. The scouts began admitting women on February 1 of this year and on Wednesday's Idaho Matters, we'll meet the troop's scoutmaster and one of the state's first female boy scouts.
