A Conversation With Poet Jasmine Mans

 

Poet Jasmine Mans caused a stir when a video of her performing her poem “Footnotes for Kanye” went viral on YouTube. Since then, she’s built a big following through live performances and is being featured in national ad campaigns for Ulta Beauty and Secret.

Mans' new book, "Black Girl, Call Home" is inspired and informed by her own life and offers important perspective on the world we live in. Idaho Matters spoke with the poet to hear more.

 

 

Gemma is the host of Idaho Matters, Boise State Public Radio's daily show which broadcasts live Monday-Friday at noon. She is an award-winning journalist and has spent the majority of her broadcasting career in Idaho. Gemma was a television news anchor and reporter in Boise for close to 15 years. She came to Boise in 1999 to start Fox 12.
