ENCORE: The Census Is Due This Month. How Is Idaho Doing? (Feel free to change this headline)

U.S. Census Bureau

This interview originally aired Sept. 1, 2020.

Have you filled out the census yet? By law, every person living in the U.S. is required to fill out the once-a-decade federal survey. And the extended deadline of October 31 is coming up.

Turns out, Idaho is doing quite well so far when it comes to getting folks to respond to the census. But how is the state doing when it comes to participation from traditionally undercounted groups, including Indigenous and Latinx communities?

Joining Idaho Matters today to help us better understand these questions are Wendy Jaquet, the co-chair of Idaho’s Complete Count Committee, charged with leading the census collection in Idaho and Antonio Hernandez with Conservation Voters of Idaho, one of the groups doing outreach across the state.

Need one more nudge? Fill out the census online here. It just takes about 10 minutes.
