Utah Gov. Gary Herbert gives a thumbs up as he walks through the Capitol rotunda to a COVID-19 briefing Monday, Nov. 9, 2020, in Salt Lake City. Herbert ordered a statewide mask mandate for the first time late Sunday.

As COVID-19 cases continue to surge across the Mountain West, Utah’s Governor Gary Herbert reversed courseSunday night and imposed a statewide mask mandate. Meanwhilein Idaho, we hit a new record of daily confirmed cases Monday, bringing Idaho’s total case count to almost 64,000. Idaho medical experts are urging a statewide approach as hospitals reach capacity.

To top it off, cases of COVID-19 in K-12 students peaked again. Kevin Richert with Idaho Ed News has been following all of this closely and joins Idaho Matters now to discuss it all.
