Few composers have impacted American music in the way George Gershwin has.

His ability to blend classical and jazz rhythms created an unforgettable sound that would later make him a household name.

This Thursday, Dr. Del Parkinson, a distinguished professor of piano in the Department of Music at Boise State University, will be exploring Gershwin’s legacy and music in a lecture with the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute. He joined Idaho Matters for a preview.
