Living Well With Diabetes: Workshop6 week workshop on Thursdays, 1:45pm-3:45pmAugust 14th, 21st, 28th Sept 4th, 18th, & 25thThis program is a 6-week workshop with the Southwest Idaho Area Agency on Aging designed for anyone who lives with diabetes or cares for someone with diabetes. We will learn self-management tools such as nutrition, preventing complications, managing emotions, action-planning, and much more. Registration is required.
The City of Boise and JUMP invite you to bring a personal treasure back to life at the Repair Café. This free community event enable neighbors to help each other reduce waste and keep reusable home goods in circulation by repairing them together.
Bring one item in need of repair and a team of volunteers will help you diagnose and repair it in a relaxed, social setting. Repair stations will be available for clothing and textiles, leather, jewelry, personal electronics, small appliances, toys and other non-electrical household items under 50 pounds. If we can’t fix it, we’ll help you research repair options available to you and recommend next steps.

This class trains the human how to teach the dog. The theme of the program is control and enthusiasm. The ultimate goal is an attentive, enthusiastic dog, under complete control, that responds immediately and eagerly to all commands. The course is six weeks and will cover the basic obedience commands: watch me, leave it, heal, sit, down, stay, and come. Various training strategies will be covered in the course. The course will utilize the distraction of dogs and people to master the skills. This course is being taught by Denise Baxter. Denise is an AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator, a Pet Partners Evaluator, and an Alliance of Therapy Dogs Tester/Observer. Denise has been teaching dog obedience classes since 1997.

iNaturalist, an online social network of people sharing biodiversity information to help each other learn about nature, puts on the City Nature Challenge each year worldwide, an event to encourage citizen science in our own communities. Participants go out into their local parks, rivers, and backyards and observe as many species as they can by taking photos and uploading them to iNaturalist.
In Ada County, we will be participating on a massive scale. The Boise Parks and Rec and I have brought together a large team of collaborators from a variety of local organizations, including but not limited to (we are still working on adding more interested organizations):

This year's City Nature Challenge is being held from April 24th-27th, and these organizations will be putting on guided nature walks, bioblitzes, school field trips, and other events for our community to come together and celebrate Idaho's biodiversity together. Invites for these specific events will be publicized later this month.
